2022 Audi Q7 Review: Specs and Pricing

Audi Q7

OVERVIEW

The 2022 Q7 SUV, like the rest of the Audi portfolio, blends a stylish exterior, a technologically advanced interior, and a fun-loving chassis. However, it does so with space for the entire family thanks to its standard three rows of seats. The base engine is a 248-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, but for those who want more power or better performance, the 335-horsepower turbocharged V-6 is the better choice.

Both engines come standard with all-wheel drive. For even more comfort and agility, the Q7 may be equipped with four-wheel steering and adjustable air suspension. Despite all of these features, the Q7 doesn't quite have the same sporting appeal as competitors like the Porsche Cayenne, but it competes favorably with the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Volvo XC90.

What Has Changed For 2022?

Rear side airbags, heated outside mirrors, ambient interior lighting, and an improved tire-pressure monitoring system are all standard features for the Q7 in 2022. Lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and a traffic congestion assist system are now standard on Premium Plus grades. Now, cars with the standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine can be ordered with the Black Optic aesthetic package.

2022 Audi Q7: Interior And Comfort

The Q7's interior is a remarkable place because of its clean, modern design, which is paired with a tonne of technology, outstanding comfort, and high build quality. The Q7's interior is highlighted by gorgeous materials and design, a clever control arrangement, and cozy seats with plenty of support and adjustment.

The entry-level Premium variants are well-equipped, and the more expensive amenities there are, the more luxury the higher trim levels can get. When all of Audi's seats are occupied, there isn't much cargo room in the cargo area, like with most three-row SUVs.

Its available area, however, is comparable to that of its main competitors, and the ability to quickly raise or lower the last row using power controls makes up for the middle row's relatively awkward operation. The 2019 Q7 had space for 25 of our carry-on baggage when all seats were folded, and we anticipate the 2021 model to achieve a similar result.

2022 Audi Q7: Connectivity

The Q7 has a smaller 8.6-inch touchscreen below the larger 10.1-inch screen for controlling the HVAC and other car settings as standard equipment. Whether you appreciate using touchscreens while driving depends on whether you find the new technology to be wonderful or wicked. Our team is divided, but Audi has been busy adding this new infotainment system to its lineup; it is available in the Q8 SUV as well as the A6, A7, and A8 sedans.

Additionally, all 2021 Q7 versions include 4G LTE Wi-Fi, the Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility. The finest audio choice for audiophiles, with 23 speakers and 1920 watts of power, is a Bang & Olufsen system.

2022 Audi Q7: Engine And Performance

In addition to the new turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that produces 335 horsepower using a 48-volt hybrid system for 2020, Audi preserved its outdated 248-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. These powertrains will remain the same until 2022. We timed a 2020 Audi Q7 with the new turbo V-6, which was faster than the mechanically comparable two-row Q8 SUV, reaching zero to 60 mph in a snappy 5.0 seconds.

Despite its size, the Q7 seems low and limber, like a pumped-up sport wagon, when the optional performance tires are mounted on 21-inch wheels. The Q7 is surprisingly enjoyable to drive down a winding country road because of the optional air suspension's adjustability and four-wheel steering's increased agility. The ride is also very smooth.

2022 Audi Q7: Pricing

The starting price for the base Audi Q7 Premium is $55,800. Even with the fact that Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive is included as standard, which is uncommon among competitors, that is above average for the class. Prices continue to escalate from there, and the top-of-the-line Audi SQ7 can cost more than $91,500.

Which One To Purchase?

We would couple the turbo-four "45" powerplant with the Premium Plus trim level since we believe it to be more than adequate. The Premium Plus, which costs more than the base Premium and adds several niceties like a surround sound stereo system, a wireless smartphone charging pad, power-folding exterior mirrors with memory settings, 20-inch wheels, ambient interior lighting, and illuminated doorsill inlays, is the next step up from the base Premium.

We'd also invest in the new Executive package, which includes heated and ventilated 12-way power-adjustable front seats, heated rear seats, all-weather floor mats, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, four-zone automatic climate control, and more.
