2022 Porsche Cayenne Review: Specs and Pricing

Porsche Cayenne

Overview

The Porsche Cayenne 2022 possesses a specific collection of abilities, especially those that pertain to driving enjoyment. Although it has a hefty curb weight and is a two-row luxury SUV, it moves carefully and beautifully. Each Cayenne has a reliable powertrain, but because there are so many different models, its strength and fuel efficiency vary.

Three powerful engines—a 355-hp turbo V-6, a 434-hp twin-turbo V-6, and a 460-hp twin-turbo V-8 reserved for the GTS—are available. There is also a 455-hp plug-in hybrid that is the fastest on the road and the most environmentally friendly.

Every Cayenne's interior is spacious and solidly constructed, and Porsche offers great personalization owing to a vast array of customized options. They can easily inflate the bottom line, so use caution.

What Has Changed For 2022?

Cayenne's Infotainment System Gets Changes For 2022. With The Most Recent Iteration Of Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Apple Products, Including Wireless Apple CarPlay, Are Supported More Extensively. Finally Joining The Party Is Android Auto. According To Porsche, The Navigation System Has Been Updated For Better Route Processing And Greater Clarity. The Voice-Recognition Software Is Also Supposed To Recognize Instructions More Accurately. With Over-The-Air Technology, This Sixth-Generation PCM Can Now Get Updates Wirelessly In The Future. There Is Now A Platinum Edition Package Available For The Standard Cayenne As Well As The S And E-Hybrid Variants, Adding Satin Finishes To The External Trim Of The SUV And Unique 21-inch Wheels.

2022 Porsche Cayenne: Interior And Comfort

Inside the Cayenne, Porsche essentially offers clients a blank canvas to decorate any way they see appropriate. Individual choices are available for everything, including surface materials, seatbelt colors, and inside trim. A stylish gauge cluster with an analog tachometer and two 7.0-inch screens that provide configurable information is in front of the driver.

The Cayenne offers desirable enhancements, such as more supportive seats, massaging front seats, four-zone climate control, and more, in addition to conventional options like heated and ventilated front and rear seats.

The Porsche features two rows, compared to three in the Audi Q7 and three in the Volvo XC90, its rivals. Even so, the back seat has plenty of room for stretching out and is customizable.

With a large passenger capacity and cargo volume that is much greater than any 911, the Cayenne entices Porsche lovers. The largest Porsche SUV offers up to 60 cubic feet of luggage space when the rear seats are folded flat and 27 cubic feet of freight space behind them.

The lackluster inside cubby storage means that the majority of tiny goods are hidden in the door pockets or the narrow center console bin. Every Cayenne comes with a power-operated liftgate, which can be opened or closed using a foot motion thanks to an optional passive entry technology called Comfort Access.

2022 Porsche Cayenne: Connectivity

A common 12.3-inch touchscreen is used by the infotainment system and is situated in the center of the dashboard. A customizable home menu and several customizable options are part of its sleek layout. During our testing, the system was responsive and simple to use, however, the screen gathered smudges.

Driving distractions could be lessened with a rotary controller. Every Cayenne offers Porsche Connect Plus, which comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Among the improved audio systems are a 14-speaker Bose unit and a far more expensive Burmester system with 21 speakers and 1455 watts of power. Two 10.0-inch displays are mounted to the back of the headrests in the front seats as part of an optional rear-seat entertainment system.

2022 Porsche Cayenne: Engine And Performance

The 434-hp Cayenne S boasts an even zestier setup thanks to its twin-turbo V-6, which has 434 more horsepower than the basic Cayenne's 355-hp turbo V-6. The plug-in hybrid, also known as the E-Hybrid, combines a turbocharged V-6 engine and an electric motor to provide a combined 455 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.

A 460-hp twin-turbo V-8 with a fantastic exhaust note and amazing acceleration powers the Cayenne GTS. An intelligent eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive go hand in hand with all engines. Even though it's difficult to make something that weighs more than two tonnes move beautifully, the Cayenne engineers in Stuttgart were successful.

The S variant that we drove traveled steadily and silently on the highway before gliding around the twisties with surprising athleticism given its size. On uneven roads, however, the greatest rollers reduce the ride quality. Adaptive dampers with or without adjustable air suspension, four-wheel steering for better maneuverability, and active anti-roll bars for flatter cornering are among the performance options available on the majority of vehicles.

The Cayenne's brakes can be modified to either pricey carbon-ceramic brakes or tungsten-coated iron rotors made by Porsche (referred to as Porsche Surface Coated Brakes or PSCB). The standard model we tested required only 159 feet to stop from 70 mph with no setup.

2022 Porsche Cayenne: Pricing

The base pricing of the Cayenne is $77,500 for the coupe body style and $69,000 for the standard body style. These are some of the highest starting prices in the class, hundreds of dollars higher than the base prices of many rivals. The brand-new Cayenne Turbo GT is the most expensive model on the list, with a starting price of $180,800.

Which One To Purchase?

We love the Cayenne in its base configuration, which has a 12.3-inch touchscreen, 10-speaker audio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot among other well-liked features. Our ideal setup would build on that with thoughtful upgrades.

We would also recommend the Premium package, which comes with heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive LED headlights, blind-spot monitoring, a more potent Bose surround-sound system, hands-free passive entry, and 14-way power front seats.

With the Sport Chrono package (extended drive modes and launch control), the Off-Road package (added underbody protection and displays), and the adaptive air suspension, we would also improve its on-road performance and off-road capabilities.

A set of 20-inch wheels, four-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, massaging front seats, and soft-close doors are a few individual choices that would expand the vehicle's luxury and style.
