Mercedes-Benz EQB: Overview
The boxy EQB, which is based on the gasoline-powered GLB-class SUV, is one of the first models under the new EQ subbrand as Mercedes-Benz prepares to provide a full array of electric vehicles.
There are two distinct all-electric powertrains available, with the EQB300 models producing 225 combined horsepower and the EQB350 versions producing 288; all-wheel drive is standard. The EQB has a roomy interior with high-end materials, much like the GLB-class SUV; the third row of seats is available, but it's exceedingly cramped and most adults won't find it comfortable.

Mercedes-Benz EQB: EV Motor And Performance
The 2022 EQB is available from Mercedes-Benz in two variations. Two electric motors, one in the front and one in the back, provide all-wheel drive and produce 225 horsepower when working together in the standard EQB 300. Similar technology is used in the EQB 350, but it has been adjusted to produce 288 horsepower. A 70.5-kWh lithium-ion battery pack powers both models.
The electric motors' instant torque allows the EQB 300 to accelerate quickly off the line and move around town with vigor. The power delivery is smooth and linear, and the throttle response is rapid. Highway speeds also provide enough passing power.
A substantial increase in power from the EQB 350 allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 6 seconds (a full second faster than the EQB 300). However, acceleration isn't as heart-pounding as in other competitors.
Mercedes-Benz EQB: Battery Life, Range, And Charging
Under the floor is a 66.5 kWh battery that powers the EQB. Although the EPA's projected driving range has not yet been disclosed, it should be comparable to the competitors the Audi Q4 e-Tron and Volkswagen ID.4 are aiming for. When the EQB goes on sale, we'll learn more.
Mercedes-Benz EQB: Interior And Comfort
The Mercedes-Benz EQB's cabin isn't all that different from the GLB's, but that's hardly a flaw. A wide infotainment touchscreen and gauge cluster serve as the dashboard's focal points, giving it a clean and contemporary appearance.
The majority of the surfaces feel solid and well-built, and the cabin is filled with high-quality materials like soft-touch plastic and fake leather. The EQB is a quiet and comfortable vehicle for long-distance travel because there is little wind and road noise intrusion.
However, if you poke around the cabin a little, you'll find some hard, somewhat tacky-looking plastics—mostly in hidden places. The EQB seems sufficiently upscale overall given its pricing range.
Mercedes-Benz EQB: Connectivity
Inside the EQB, Mercedes-most Benz's recent MBUX infotainment system is on show. For controlling its audio, navigation, and other features, it has a touchscreen, voice commands, and a steering wheel.
This new interface can be challenging to use at times, especially with its excessively zealous voice assistant that activates whenever you speak the word, Mercedes. A component of the navigation system makes it easier for drivers to locate EV charging outlets.
Mercedes-Benz EQB: Pricing
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB has one of the lowest starting MSRPs in the luxury electric SUV segment at $54,500. For the more potent EQB 350, the cost rises to $58,050.
Which One To Purchase?
The more potent EQB350 will be available in Exclusive or Pinnacle trim levels, as will the less potent EQB300. Most drivers will likely find the EQB300's 225 horsepower to be more than sufficient, but the Pinnacle trim level's panoramic sunroof and Burmester premium music system truly increase the luxury factor.
